Green University® Campus
Green University® evolved out of Hollowtop Outdoor Primitive School, LLC. HOPS Press, LLC and Granny's Country Store are other enterprises that were originally formed as part of Hollowtop, but eventually split off to become separate entities.
The Green University® "campus" started out as an 18' tipi and a 1970 Blair mobile home next door to Granny's Country Store in the metropolis of Silver Star, Montana, population 30+. In 2005 we tore apart and recycled the mobile home, and broke ground on a new passive solar stone house that is now mostly complete. The stone house serves as intern housing and classroom space for Green University®. Although not totally complete, the intern house is fully liveable, with solar hot water, bathrooms, a functional kitchen, and a greenhouse to grow vegetables all year long. We are just glad to have a roof on it now, which is more than we had when previous interns stayed with us!
Silver Star is also awesome location for experiencing the great outdoors. Our campus is right next to the Jefferson River (part of the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail) in southwest Montana where we are surrounded by range after range of beautiful mountains and hundreds of thousands of acres of public lands to go exploring and camping--which is one thing we like to do a lot of!

Tom,
I have read some of your book, Primitive Living, Self-Sufficiency, and Survival Skills. As I started it, I felt angry because it conflicted with some of my beliefs and values. After a bit of digestion, talk, and thought I became grateful. Your views helped expand my perspective and enhance my understanding of life.
You seem to be developing most of your beliefs outside of labels, i.e. environmentalist, conservative, liberal. I feel excited because I want there to be more understanding and peace. I think that comes from people connecting with themselves and coming to their own understanding, instead of having beliefs aligned with a certain label. My views are constantly changing and your views have already helped me understand more. Thank You.
